Sunday Review 6/28/20

June is Dairy Month and though it is coming to an end, we are just getting started with our summer activities here at Martin-Place. Fortunately, it is easy to practice social distancing from the hay fields so we’ve been able to get a jump start on hay season thanks to the unusually warm, dry weather. All the extra heat has made for some beautifully colorful sunrises and sunsets this week.

After spending nearly every night in the hayfield we were able to bring in a few loads of both round bales and square bales. The dry weather has allowed us to get an early start haying, but in order to get a second crop later in the summer, we do need a bit more rain to help the grass grow. Fortunately, the little rain we did receive resulted in a gorgeous rainbow.

Thursday, we welcomed a new member of the farm family, Brady the goat! The 2 month old is joining his friends Sophia and Hazelnut in the barn. We’re so excited to watch him grow this summer!
